Valerie Dockter’s professional path started at the age of 16, when she went to work at a nursing home as a nursing assistant. It was there that she uncovered a love for caring for others, and spent the rest of her life pursuing that passion. After high school graduation, she went to work in special education at High Point in Ann Arbor, in their Young Adult department. The following year, she continued that line of work at the Alpine Center in Gaylord, where she met Director of Nursing Dorothy Alzinger.
